Speech Teletherapy
What is Speech Teletherapy?
Speech teletherapy is an alternative delivery method that employs the use of telecommunication technology. Speech therapy services are delivered via a virtual platform in real-time. The American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) defines telepractice (the act of providing Telehealth services) as “the application of telecommunications technology to deliver professional services at a distance by linking clinician to client, or clinician to clinician, for assessment, intervention, and/or consultation.” This mode of service delivery, when implemented correctly, is noted to have equal outcomes to face-to-face interventions. The standard of care is the same whether the patient is seen in person, through telehealth, (telepractice), or by other methods of electronically enabled health care.
What do I need for Speech Teletherapy?
You need an iPhone or computer (with microphone and camera) and a strong internet connection.
